We are partnering with Nova Ukraine, the largest non-profit organization in the US and Canada that works directly with organizations in Poland and the Ukraine providing medical supplies, food, and emergency needs to residents and refugees. Nova Ukraine has contracted to collect 2,500 pairs of new or gently used shoes that will then be sold to purchase medical supplies. A team of UCSD doctors and other medical personnel are going to Ukraine and Poland in July so the supplies will be needed immediately.
Instead of doing a drive thru event, this is a month-long effort to collect as many pair of shoes that we can to help reach the 2,500 goal. You can bring new or gently used shoes to the Welcome Center Monday-Friday 9:00-4:00 or on Sunday mornings. Please try to pin, rubber band, or tie the shoes together as a pair. We all have shoes we don’t wear, don’t like, or have outgrown … please donate them for medical supplies.
All types of shoes are being collected: men’s, women’s and childrens sandals, dress shoes, casual and gym shoes too.
