This year’s summer camp at Thousand Pines was a blast for our campers! Our students had an energizing week that strengthened their connection with both their peers and their faith. The theme of this year’s camp was “HEROIC”, which centered around teaching students how to become ambassadors of Christ who spread their faith to the world.
Our students had a week full of fun games, recreational activities, and worship. The following events would take place during each day at camp:
Recreation: This was a time for student teams to compete against each other in various challenging games at different locations on the campground.
Chapel (morning and evening): Students sang songs led by a worship band and heard impactful messages from the camp speaker, Cameron Wells.
Cabin Connect: Students got to know their cabinmates and cabin leaders better by engaging in group discussion.
Free Time: This time was reserved for students to go off on their own and explore all the things Thousand Pines has to offer. This included things like the malt shops, swimming pool, rock wall, zipline, sports tournaments, and so much more!
Group Connect: Students connected with their church group and had meaningful group conversation.
At the end of the week, students were given a choice to pick a faith category that aligned with them. They were given four options: Maturing Believer, Returning Believer, New Believer, and Unbeliever. This choice helped students understand how they can be ambassadors of Christ wherever they are in their faith journey. This choice also emphasized to the students that every kind of believer is seen, known, and loved by God.
Our campers experienced all kinds of spiritual and personal breakthroughs at camp. Some students came to view their faith from a brand-new perspective. Some students got vulnerable and shared their true feelings with others. Some students looked into the words of Scripture to understand what God was speaking into their hearts. Some students got out of their comfort zone and faced their fears. And some students made important friendships that they could take with them outside of camp.
