I want to thank all of the scripture readers last Sunday who read scripture in languages other than English. That was amazing to hear the other languages and to have the expertise of so many people in our church who have that background. We saw how every nation can come together to hear the mighty works of God in their own native tongues. It is not just one language. Pentecost was a time when it reversed the division of Babel so the Spirit unites all nations under one message of hope.
We had some amazing hymns that emphasized what we were learning about—“Build Your Kingdom Here”, “Be Still, for the Spirit of the Lord”, “Open Our Eyes”, “Stay”, and the traditional spiritual, “Ev'ry Time I Feel the Spirit.” We heard how when we feel the Spirit moving in our hearts that we will pray. The Spirit provides the ultimate strength to move and speak, allowing us to confidently proclaim Jesus is our Hope. Every believer receives the Holy Spirit, and because worship continues in us, we can honestly confess, repent, and believe again. We can boldly proclaim God’s greatness. I saw some people with tears when singing or hearing some of these songs. It really touched us to know how God is in our lives every minute of every day.
Thank you to Pastor Jason for sharing another gift you have. I didn’t know he had the gift of playing the guitar and leading us to sing “Then Sings My Soul” and “How Great Thou Art”. Thank you God for all of the gifts you have given people in our congregation!
Worship doesn’t end when the benediction is spoken. It continues in us daily as a tool to recognize His greatness. Jesus is our Hope!
