Reflection For December 6

This is the beginning of the Advent season, and the sermons before Christmas will cover Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love. Last week was about Hope. God is with us, and we are walking in hope. Sometimes we are working ourselves through difficult times. A reference was given about a study from Victor Frankl who suggested we accept situations knowing we have God with us and can get out of difficult situations together. We can survive. We are people of hope even in uncertain times. Paul said we can have hope. All things work together for the good of those who love God. Believers are called to endure present hardships by comparing them to the future. Eternal glory will be revealed in them. We have hope because Jesus rose again. In Isaiah 2:1-5, it talks about how God will establish a good kingdom. This contrasts with people turning to idols and they don’t know who God is. God says turn to me and repent. We need to value others and imitate Christ’s humility. Abandon selfish ambition and conceit and instead have a humble mindset to consider others more important than ourselves. The world is distorted by sin, but Jesus is better and Christ loves us. We can still have hope. Reflections from Deborah Kelly.
