Reflection For April 4

The sermons from this week’s "Mornings with the Master" series emphasized that identity is not found in personal achievement, but in being known and claimed by God. By focusing on the question "Who am I?", we recognize our human frailty—likened to a fading flower—which helps us find a more stable definition of self as belonging to the Lord. This foundation allows us to maintain an active and forward-looking faith, even when the path ahead feels uncertain.

We can dive deeply into the profound empathy of Jesus, particularly through the scripture in Isaiah 53. Because Jesus experienced the fullness of human rejection and betrayal, he is presented as a Savior who intimately understands and carries the griefs of his followers. This divine sympathy is not just a passive feeling but a source of strength that upholds individuals through their own "battles" and spiritual struggles. The Master endured the cross and carried our sorrows, ensuring we are never alone and have the capacity to persevere through any hardship.

God is there for us, and He loves us with deep humility. Jesus lived through a life like ours and kept going, stepping down to help us and be with others. He went to the cross to provide salvation, ultimately showing that he is a Master who both saves us and serves us.
