For the past several years, the Missions Committee has partnered with Kids Around the World and Baja Presbyterian Missions to sponsor food packing events on our campus. On Saturday, March 21, from 10:00 to noon, we will be packing 30,000 meals for families and refugees living in Baja, CA, dealing with food insecurity. When done, we will have provided 105,000 meals over the past three years. You might ask who Kids Around the World is. KATW is a faith-based non-profit working to spread the gospel to children and communities in small rural areas, reservations, and villages. They partner with children’s playground companies, purchasing equipment at cost to install in the above-mentioned areas to draw children to play. During the week of building the playground, they distribute packed meals to families in need, tell stories of Jesus’s love, and train local leaders to continue sponsoring Hope Circles (think youth groups) that function out of local churches or community centers in the area. They welcome groups to travel with them to build playgrounds, to play with the children, to distribute meals, and to teach/train local believers in sharing the Good News after KATW leaves the area. Since 1964, BPM has helped to support 31 Presbyterian Churches serving communities in Baja, CA. As a supported mission of the RB Community Missions Committee, the food packing event allows us to work closely with one of our supported missions. BPM for the past three years has been the agency distributing the packed meals to refugees and church congregations in Baja. They haul the boxes to a storage container near the border, and one of the BPM-affiliated pastors will take several boxes at a time across the border and deliver them to churches for distribution. Jim Hancock, President of Baja Presbyterian Missions, and some of their board members will be on-site helping to pack meals with us. Learn more at: https:// bajapresbyterianmissions.org. Join us in packing 30,000 meals on March 21, from 10:00-12:00 … it’s fun, it’s fast, and it’s furious, but it’s all for a good cause. You can register online at the RB Community website/events page or sign up in the courtyard on Sunday. REMINDER: Grocery Drive Thru on Saturday, March 7, from 9-11 in the upper parking lot, benefitting 4 Community Care Food Pantry serving families and seniors dealing with food insecurity within the PUSD boundaries. THANK YOU for helping RB Community make a difference in our communities. Elaine Johnson, Outreach Coordinator
