Fairest Lord Jesus: Reflecting the light of the Jubilee in a world longing for peace. We can learn alot from Jesus because he lived a life just like ours. Last week, we heard about the 40-day journey Jesus took, giving up food and his daily needs to prepare for his mission. This journey shows us his work and gives us an idea how we can experience life and live like him today. By giving to the poor and reaching out to the broken, Jesus showed us exactly how to help others. God’s mission moves in three powerful directions:
Upward: To gather people together to worship and glorify God.
Outward: To bring restoration and healing to people, replacing illness and brokenness with His blessing.
Against: To stand against the forces and injustices that break our world.
One of the most challenging parts of this mission is that it extends even to our enemies. We are all sinners in need of restoration, and it is only through Jesus—our "Jubilee"—that our debts are canceled and we are made whole. This mission concludes in Revelation 22:2 about the healing of the nations and a world where we all live in harmony, perfect peace, and communion with God. Jesus is truly worthy of all our praise. He transforms us from the inside out, moving us from "religion" to a deep, living relationship. As we sang last week—“I Set My Hope on Jesus,” “Fairest Lord Jesus,” and “Jesus Keeps Me Singing”—we are reminded that He is our rock and our only trust. Even when we falter, Jesus shines brighter and purer than any earthly thing. He is the sweetest name we know, and He fills our every longing. Reflections from Deborah Kelly.
