The Parable of the Prodigal Son (Luke 15:11-32) is that we are all lost when we separate from God, but God yearns for our return and forgives us. Jesus celebrated sinners who repented and returned home to God. The difficulty of being lost—a separation from God—is relatable. Pastor Jason shared examples, such as the anxiety of his daughter briefly disappearing in a store, to illustrate how tough it is to lose someone. Just as we desperately search for a loved one, we can find our way back to God because He is always searching for us. Jesus said that to be lost is that the relationship we were meant to have with God is broken, and we are not where we are meant to be. Sometimes people judge or exclude others for having different beliefs, but we are all sinners in need of God's grace. The Bible verse Jeremiah 2:25 warns against the "frantic pursuit of idols," urging people to stop running away from God and wearing out their feet in a futile quest. The service had a powerful message of forgiveness and Amazing Grace. The story of Adam and Eve being clothed by God illustrates how He helps us cover our sin and allows us to be forgiven. The key is that God never gives up trying to get us back. Pastor Jason's stories create a personal connection, reminding us that we are all sinners. However, we all have a standing invitation to return home to God and reunite with him. He will welcome us with open arms. We need the grace of God to get through each day.
