Learning Together to Know Jesus More Deeply

This fall, our Middle School and High School students spent nine Sundays walking through the Gospel of Mark in a series called Who Do You Say I Am?—the same question Jesus asked His disciples in Mark 8:29. Throughout the series, students explored stories that revealed not only what Jesus did, but who Jesus is, and what it means to follow Him today.

Our weekly rhythm began in community, sharing snacks and time together before opening Scripture as a group. Students read directly from the Bible, learned to follow along with an entire passage, and practiced asking questions that help the story come alive. Each week, we highlighted a key truth about Jesus’ character, helping students grow in faith through thoughtful conversation and practical application.

Nine Weeks of Encountering Jesus

Throughout the series, students discovered:

  • Jesus Is the Teacher He speaks with authority and invites us to listen and learn.

  • Jesus Is the Healer He cares not just about physical needs, but our hearts and relationships.

  • Jesus Is Lord Over Creation He brings peace when life feels chaotic or overwhelming.

  • Jesus Is the Servant King He uses power to lift others up, and calls His followers to do the same.

  • Jesus Calls Us to Follow Discipleship isn’t just believing—it’s walking with Him, trusting Him, and becoming more like Him.

Through stories of miracles, moments of compassion, conflicts with religious leaders, and the surprising upside-down way of Jesus’ kingdom, students were encouraged to consider who Jesus truly is—and how that identity changes our own.

Students Growing in Ownership of Their Faith

This series wasn’t just about teaching; it was about helping young people discover Scripture for themselves. Students practiced:

  • Reading Scripture out loud together

  • Sharing observations and questions

  • Connecting biblical truth to life at school, at home, and with friends

  • Praying for one another in small groups

Our ministry team saw students growing more comfortable with their Bibles, more open with their questions, and more eager to participate in faith conversations.

Thank You, RB Community

To our church family—thank you for praying for and supporting our students. Your investment in the next generation is helping them build a faith that goes beyond Sunday morning, rooted in who Jesus is. As we continue to journey with our young people, may we all keep asking Jesus’ question in our own lives:

“Who do you say I am?”
