God’s love, God’s grace, God’s peace, God’s presence… they’re all hard to believe at times. At other times, there’s a sense that they are evident, “plain as the nose on your face.” But for many people in the world, with what they see on the news or hear from their newsfeeds, or have experienced in their lives… God and anything he would provide seem hard, sometimes very hard, to believe. When a Christ follower struggles in belief, it usually means that they are going through difficulty or a time that lacks a clear understanding. We ask why? And we expect that there is someone to ask. There’s someone listening. But, when a non-believer, someone who hasn’t had any sense of God in the world, comes to times where they are challenged with belief or unbelief, they rely on experience to make a choice. They have no one to ask, or they have no expectation that asking will make a difference. And one thing that remains hard to believe in the economy of God is that we are God’s evidence of his existence to the world. That’s probably why news stories of corruption, destructive or abusive behavior within a church hit our world so hard. Someone may not be able to get into faith, but they rely on those who do to live it out sincerely. Inherently, people have a sense that faithfulness is evidence. How remarkable that God depends on us being in relationship with him as evidence of his existence and care for the rest of the population. As you move into your future, as you step into the next adventure God will lead you through, seek first to know him through Jesus, and you will become the evidence people hope to find. It’s been a gift to be a part of your journey. Blessings, Geoff
