Many members of our congregation continue to enjoy the opportunity to watch the Sunday service at home, either on the church website or on YouTube. They can give their thanks to Lee and Berdi Meehan, who operate the church’s video broadcasting systems, allowing members to enjoy the service live-stream or later at their convenience. Lee and Berdi are long-time members of our church family. They came to RB Community several years ago and joined soon, knowing they had found their church home. Berdi taught Sunday school for a while. As they watched Luke working to make the services run smoothly, they felt called to offer him their help in any way he needed it. He asked them to stream the services, gave them some basic instructions, and said to go for it. He gives them great leeway and trusts their reliability. Lee and Berdi come early to the rehearsal before the service and watch for special activities to focus on. They then preprogram the camera for those particular views, trying to capture the same feeling as the live service provides. They interact with the tech booth so viewers at home can see the slides accordingly. Berdi says they are used to glitches. This was not too new to them, aside from her fondness for capturing and videotaping memorable moments and events, Berdi helps her student who attends Digital Media class, while Lee had experience with amateur photography during his 23 years in the Navy, documenting his deployments. Lee and Berdi live in Escondido, and she works as an instructional assistant for the extensive support needs program at a Poway Unified School District middle school. Originally, Berdi is from Indonesia, and Lee comes from the California Central Valley. Lee works for General Atomics as an electrical engineering manager. They have one daughter, Abigail, who plays the viola in our sanctuary orchestra and attends SDSU. She is currently pursuing her MA in music with the goal of becoming a professional musician. Live streaming our services has been their gift to our church family for three years. Berdi says it is their form of worship. Like all our volunteers, Berdi and Lee are willing to show up when God calls them to accomplish something they never thought of doing. They have a busy life volunteering weekly and at special events at our church. Irene Dunny
