Come, Sing to the Lord

Come, Sing to the Lord

Students are heading back to school, pre-season football is on TV, and the beach crowds are thinning. We are headed toward fall. This means many ministries are resuming their regular programming. The worship, music and arts ministry is no different; ensemble rehearsals resume next week. If you’ve ever considered joining a church music group, this is a great time to give it a try. Here are the options:

  • Chancel Choir: Non-auditioned choir that meets Thursdays at 7pm and sings weekly in worship.

  • Orchestra: Non-auditioned instrumental ensemble that plays once a month in worship (intermediate level playing on your instrument is helpful).

  • Grace Notes: An auditioned treble voice ensemble that meets twice a month on Mondays at 7:30pm and sings once a month in worship.

  • NEW Tenor/Bass Ensemble: meets twice a month on Mondays at 7:30pm and sings once a month in worship.

  • Mic Singer: leads congregational singing with the band during worship.

  • Last year, the choir was asked to communicate the reasons they loved being part of the music ministry. Soprano Rachael Groeneweg composed this poem:

“I sing because I’m happy! I sing because I’m free! For His eye is on the sparrow And I know he watches me.” Especially at RB Community. Whether Haydn or Hogan, Classical or Gospel, Liz’s music selections are always so thoughtful. Yes, we wear robes, I know — seems old fashioned. But what matters most Are our voices ascended? With glory and honor And praise, lifted high To our most holy God Who loves you and I. Come, sing to the Lord No need to be coy For when you sing for Jesus, Know that you’ll bring joy To yourself, and to others Life-long Christians, and new Please come, join the choir. We’d love to worship with you! Email me, liz@rbcommunity.org, if you’re interested in joining the music ministry! Liz Virkler
