CRU-San Diego College Ministry Update

Many of you are probably wondering what ministry has looked like during the COVID crisis. It took our team about two weeks to pivot into a new way of reaching our college students, God is still in the business of changing lives. He has continued to do incredible things in this challenging season. Here are a few things that we did to shift the way we have been doing ministry during the spring and summer:

  • Online Seminars - we had six different three-week seminars ranging from topics like how to study the Bible, answering hard questions, spiritual formation, mental health, following Christ in the marketplace, and race, theology, and culture.

  • Large Groups, Small Groups, and Discipleship - All of these still happened, just on a different platform. Because of the accessibility of having things online, we actually had Cru students bringing their non-Christian friends who were exploring faith to events.

  • Leadership Summit - There were over 100 leaders on one zoom call from 6 campuses and 13 different ministries for a night of vision and celebration.

  • New Website! - We were able to spend time updating our website. Please check it out and let us know what you think: www.CruAtSD.com

  • Incoming Freshmen Connection - We have created ways to serve churches, youth pastors, and their graduating high school seniors by offering small seminars on "How to Walk With God in College" and "How to Survive College Online".

Our fall outreach will look fundamentally different this year as most of the campuses in San Diego are going virtually online, except ECSD which may use a hybrid model.

Please pray for wisdom for Sarah, Jon, and Josh as we lead the team in San Diego. Pray for our team and the incoming freshman college students. We also ask, that you pray for us as we connect with youth pastors and churches throughout California to provide online seminars to their students.

In Christ, Josh and Sarah Dean, RB Community Missionaries
