Are You a Deacon at Heart?

Are You a Deacon at Heart?

Deacons are the spiritual leaders of our congregation that offer the gift of compassion.  They assist with the ministries that meet the physical and spiritual needs of the congregation and community.  Deacons help provide for the ill and those in need, oversee the flower ministry, communion preparation and cleanup, assist with mission outreach and partner with congregational care ministries to bless our community

Hebrews 13:20-21 reads, May the God of peace equip you with everything good for doing His will, and may He work in us what is pleasing to Him through Jesus Christ.

Our current Deacon Moderator, Debby Sather, was asked how serving as a deacon has impacted her life.

"Deacons are considered the “Heart and Hands” of our church, and being able to routinely demonstrate that with our many duties has inspired me to grow in my relationship with Christ.  When we are preparing holy communion, riding the bus that brings seniors to our campus, making calls (and visits in usual times), sending cards to those who are ill or grieving, or providing information to people visiting our table on the courtyard,  I truly feel we are following the ministry of deacon as set forth in Scripture as one of compassion, witness, and service, sharing in the redeeming love of Jesus Christ…    It has been an honor to be part of this wonderful team!"
